Employers in the technology industry anticipate dynamic hiring activity in the coming quarter in Belgium. This is revealed by the latest Tech Talent Outlook conducted by Experis, a global leader in IT staffing and project services. In fact, 49% of employers surveyed in this sector in January plan to increase their workforce by the end of June 2025, while only 17% expect to reduce it. Meanwhile, 37% of respondents foresee no changes.
After adjusting for seasonal variations, the Net Employment Outlook(1) (NEO) – the difference between the percentage of employers planning to hire and those anticipating workforce reductions – stands at an optimistic +35%. This represents an increase of 6 points compared to the previous quarter and a 17-point rise from the same period last year.
These forecasts also reflect the challenges faced by the digital sector. According to a recent survey conducted by ManpowerGroup, 74% of IT companies in Belgium struggle to find qualified talent in a context of accelerated digital transformation.
“The results of our Experis Tech Talent Outlook show that, despite a complex and uncertain economic context, employers in the IT sector plan to continue investing in their digital transformation projects by strengthening their teams,” explains Cédric Vandendael, Director of Experis Belgium. “At the same time, the sector remains under pressure, as the demand for specialized skills in strategic areas such as AI and cybersecurity exceeds the available supply, making efforts to attract and retain the right profiles more challenging.”
Belgium above the EMEA average
With a Net Employment Outlook of +35% in IT professions, Belgium stands 9 points above the average observed in the EMEA (Europe, Middle East, and Africa) region (+26%) and on par with the global forecast in this field (35%)
In Europe, Belgium ranks third, behind the United Kingdom (49%) and Norway (42%), and ahead of Italy (+24%), the Netherlands (+33%), France and Germany (both at +28%), Switzerland (+23%), and Austria (+15%).
The results of the next edition of the Experis Tech Talent Outlook will be released on June 10, 2025 (Q3 2025).
